Research notice: These pages are educational analyses of public enforcement allegations, not confirmed factual findings or legal opinions about an individual property. Some source narratives were truncated. Verify the complete summons, relevant code version, agency records, property conditions, and case status before relying on an interpretation.

How to research a DOB or OATH summons

  1. Identify the notice. Record the summons number, respondent, location, cited law section, infraction code and hearing or compliance dates.
  2. Compare the allegation to the applicable law. Read the inspector’s narrative and confirm which code edition, exception, permit history or occupancy document may matter.
  3. Verify the facts. Review property records, permits, approved plans, photographs, inspection history and relevant professional reports where appropriate.
  4. Separate the agency processes. Addressing the OATH hearing or penalty does not necessarily clear the DOB violation; a correction filing or other agency approval may be required.
